★ Allowed File Types

Linklock.live is intentionally constrained to encourage creativity and maintain the spirit of the early web. We only support the following file types:

.html.css.js.jpg.jpeg.gif.png.ico.txt.md

Your HTML file structure should be simple and well-organized. All files must be contained within your uploaded .zip file and must not exceed a total of 50MB in size.

❌ Forbidden Technologies

To maintain the spirit and aesthetic of the early web, the following are not permitted:

✗Modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, etc.)
✗Server-side languages (PHP, Ruby, Python, etc.)
✗Server-side functionality or backend services
✗External API calls (except optional Google Sheets integration)
✗CSS frameworks (Bootstrap, Tailwind, SASS, etc.)
✗Web font services (Google Fonts, Typekit, etc.)
✗Analytics or tracking scripts
✗Cryptocurrency miners or resource-intensive scripts
✗iframes embedding external content

These restrictions encourage innovation within constraints, just like early web developers experienced.

★ Recommendations (Not Requirements)

While we don't enforce any specific design aesthetic, here are some tips for embracing the early web spirit:

Web-Safe Fonts

Arial, Verdana, Times New Roman, Courier New, Georgia

Fixed-Width Layouts

640px, 800px, or 1024px centered layouts

Tables for Layout

Authentic to the era (before CSS was widespread)

Bright Colors!

Patterned tiles, colorful text, bold backgrounds
